Parents of Schools for the Blind Attempt to Enter Cheongwadae "Please Remove the Union Tent"

[Asia Economy Reporter Son Sunhee] Parents of students at Seoul School for the Blind conducted a sit-in protest for about two hours near the school on the 17th, attempting to enter the Blue House to demand the removal of a tollgate union tent installed nearby.

According to the police, four parents of Seoul School for the Blind students tried to enter the Blue House through the Chunchu Gate around 6 p.m. but were stopped and then sat on a nearby sidewalk to protest.

The parents reportedly demanded the removal of the tent set up by the Korean Confederation of Trade Unions (KCTU) Tollgate Union near Seoul School for the Blind, claiming it infringed on their children's right to learn. They dispersed around 8 p.m.

A police official stated, "We identified their personal information and sent them home for now," adding, "We plan to verify the exact facts."

Seoul School for the Blind, a special school for visually impaired students, is located about 500 meters from the Blue House Sarangchae. The students receive 'independent walking' training two to three times a day, learning to navigate by sound. Parents claim that recent noise and traffic control from rallies by the Moon Jae-in Resignation National Struggle Headquarters (Beomtu-bon) and the tollgate union have been disrupting their children's education.
