[Today’s Weather] Cold Eases, but Some Areas Experience 'Bad' Fine Dust Levels

[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Kim Seul-gi] Although the cold will ease today (Saturday, the 18th), some areas will experience snow (or rain) along with a temporary surge in fine dust levels.

According to the Korea Meteorological Administration, due to the influence of a high-pressure system moving southeast from northern China, the entire country will be clear, but Gangwon Yeongdong, eastern Gyeongbuk, and the eastern coast of Gyeongnam will see 1 to 5 cm of snow.

The National Institute of Environmental Research's Air Quality Integrated Forecast Center stated that the fine dust level today is expected to be 'Bad' in southern Gyeonggi and Chungbuk, while other regions will range from 'Good' to 'Moderate.'

However, Seoul, Incheon, northern Gyeonggi, and Gangwon Yeongseo will also temporarily experience 'Bad' levels in the morning.

The morning low temperatures are expected to be △Seoul -4°C △Daejeon -4°C △Daegu 0°C △Busan 2°C △Jeonju -3°C △Gwangju -2°C △Cheongju -2°C △Chuncheon -3°C △Gangneung 3°C △Jeju 5°C.

The daytime high temperatures are forecasted to be △Seoul 6°C △Daejeon 8°C △Daegu 7°C △Busan 10°C △Jeonju 7°C △Gwangju 8°C △Cheongju 6°C △Chuncheon 6°C △Gangneung 8°C △Jeju 9°C.

The Korea Meteorological Administration advised, "The air will be dry in most areas, so please be especially cautious to prevent fires," and added, "The temperature difference between day and night will be around 10 degrees until the 19th, so please take care of your health."
