Wando-gun Festival Program Idea Contest Held

Call for Exhibition, Experience, and Performance Programs for Jangbogo Seafood Festival

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Kyung-pil] Wando-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Shin Woo-cheol) announced on the 17th that it is holding a contest for fresh and creative ideas to discover diverse and innovative programs for its representative festivals: Jangbogo Seafood Festival, Cheongsando Slow Walking Festival, Saturday Fresh Concert, and Clean Wando Autumn Light Travel Festival.

The county aims to discover fresh programs to enhance the satisfaction of residents and tourists, establish the identity of the festivals, and develop them into nationally representative festivals.

The contest is open to anyone with creative ideas, and the fields include exhibition, experience, and performance programs that align with the planning direction of the representative festivals.

The submission period is from the 20th of this month to the 21st of next month. Proposals will be evaluated based on five criteria including feasibility and economic viability, and the results will be announced in March.

Participants can download the proposal and detailed plan forms from the announcement section on the Wando-gun official website, fill them out, and submit them by visiting the Tourism Division (1st floor) of Wando-gun Office in person or via email, fax, or mail.

A total of eight teams will be awarded: the grand prize (1 team) will receive 1,000,000 KRW, the excellence prize (2 teams) 500,000 KRW, and the encouragement prize (5 teams) 300,000 KRW each, along with a certificate from the Governor of Wando-gun.

Lee Song-hyun, head of the Tourism Division of Wando-gun, said, “This contest aims to discover competitive new programs for our county’s festivals to develop into nationally representative festivals that offer excitement and fun,” and added, “We ask for program proposals with fresh ideas that everyone can enjoy together.”

Meanwhile, Wando-gun plans to hold this year’s Cheongsando Slow Walking Festival (April 4 to May 2), Jangbogo Seafood Festival (May 2 to May 5), Saturday Fresh Concert (June to September, every Saturday), and Clean Wando Autumn Light Travel Festival (October).
