Applications open until February 7... Final selection on the 14th after document screening and auditions... Residents of Dongjak-gu aged 7 to under 19 or enrolled in local elementary, middle, or high schools are eligible to apply
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Dongjak-gu (Mayor Changwoo Lee) is recruiting new members for the Dongjak-gu Youth Choir (hereinafter referred to as the Choir), which will contribute to the development of local culture and arts.
The Choir currently consists of about 40 members and has been active as a representative youth choir of Dongjak-gu since its establishment in March 2017.
The recruitment target is residents of Dongjak-gu aged 7 to under 19 who are interested in musical activities, or students attending elementary, middle, or high schools located in Dongjak-gu.
The recruitment period is until February 7, and after document screening based on age, residence, and school enrollment, an audition will be held on February 13, with the final announcement on the 14th.
The selected choir members will have regular practice sessions every Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the district office auditorium under the guidance of a professional conductor, and will perform at competitions and local festivals.
To apply, download the application form from the district website, fill it out, and submit it in person or by registered mail to the Sports and Culture Division of the district office (☎820-9356).
Last year, the Choir showcased their polished performances throughout the year at local events such as the ‘100th Anniversary Ceremony of the March 1st Movement,’ ‘Sadang 4-dong Local Festival,’ and ‘Dongjak Innovation Education Festival,’ as well as holding a ‘Regular Concert’ for local residents.
Jongrok Jeong, head of the Sports and Culture Division, said, “The Dongjak-gu Youth Choir plays an important role as cultural ambassadors in the local community,” and added, “We hope many students with cultural and artistic talents and passion will apply.”
Last year, the district established the Dongjak Cultural Foundation to revitalize local culture, and this year plans to continue initiatives such as the ‘Hanmaeum Orchestra Community Ensemble,’ the open arts education program for children ‘Our Neighborhood Dongjak Musical Group,’ and the ‘Local Culture and Arts Group Support Project’ supporting creative activities in various fields.
