Genesis' First SUV 'GV80' Officially Launched on the 15th
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Ji-hee] The Genesis brand's first sports utility vehicle (SUV), the GV80, was officially launched on the 15th. The GV80 is Genesis's first rear-wheel-drive based large SUV model.
The starting price of the newly released 3.0 diesel model is set at 65.8 million KRW. Adding features such as 7-seater and AWD with full options can raise the price up to 89 million KRW.
Based on the starting price, the GV80 is priced lower than imported car brands in a similar segment in the domestic market. The domestic selling prices of the Mercedes-Benz GLE and BMW X5 start around 90 million KRW and 100 million KRW, respectively.
The GV80 is characterized by maximizing luxury with an exterior that embodies dynamic elegance, a comfortable and clean interior that elevates the dignity of a large SUV, and a variety of captivating colors. The front features a large crest grille that exudes dignity, and a quad-lamp design composed of four lamps adds originality. The Genesis-exclusive design element, G-Matrix, is applied not only to the radiator grille pattern but also to the head and rear lamps, exclusive wheels, and interior, providing differentiated luxury.
Additionally, it secures best-in-class driving performance with an inline 6-cylinder diesel engine and preview electronic controlled suspension, and enhances quietness with active road noise reduction technology. The 3.0 diesel engine delivers a maximum output of 278 horsepower and a maximum torque of 60.0 kgf·m. The combined fuel efficiency is 11.8 km/ℓ (based on 5-seater, 2WD, 19-inch tires). Notably, the 'preview electronic controlled suspension,' which is applied for the first time, uses front cameras and navigation information to recognize road conditions ahead in advance and controls the suspension accordingly to provide optimal ride comfort for passengers.
Advanced autonomous driving technologies and various new technologies to protect passengers from internal and external vehicle hazards have also been applied. Driving convenience and safety features have been enhanced with Highway Driving Assist II (HDA II), 10 airbags, and cutting-edge infotainment convenience features such as augmented reality navigation and the Genesis Integrated Controller (handwriting recognition control), offering innovative product appeal.
Genesis introduced the 'Your Genesis' system, the Hyundai Motor Group's first personalized sales method, with the GV80. The Your Genesis system is a customer-centric sales approach that allows customers to choose the engine, drivetrain, seating, exterior color and wheels, interior design package, and option packages according to their lifestyle preferences.
Genesis plans to launch the GV80 starting with the 3.0 diesel model and later add gasoline 2.5 and 3.5 turbo models, operating a total of three engine lineups.
