"Do Not Disband Yoon Seok-yeol Prosecutor General's 3 Major Investigation Teams"… Blue House National Petition Surpasses 200,000 Signatures

[Asia Economy Reporter Son Sun-hee] A Blue House petition requesting not to disband the investigation team led by Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-yeol, who is in charge of investigating power institutions, has received over 200,000 endorsements as of the 15th.

According to the Blue House website, the petition titled "Do not disband Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-yeol's investigation team on the three major allegations," which was posted on the 6th, had about 225,000 participants as of 2:30 PM on the same day.

The petitioner stated, "Since Prosecutor General Yoon took office, he has started investigations without yielding to the living power," adding, "The majority of the public has cheered and actively supported him. However, the president and key figures in the Blue House are the most uncomfortable," thus raising this petition.

Although the petitioner did not specify what the 'three major allegations' are, it appears to target suspicions including corruption allegations involving former Minister of Justice Cho Kuk's family, as well as allegations of Blue House-directed investigations and cover-ups of inspections. Recently, concerns have been raised that the investigation team may be effectively disbanded as Minister of Justice Choo Mi-ae has taken personnel actions against prosecutors in charge of these cases.

The petitioner argued, "If the investigation team on the three major corruptions is disbanded, there is a high possibility of public outrage exploding."

Since the petition has surpassed the Blue House's response threshold of 200,000 signatures, a response is expected to be issued within one month starting from the petition's closing date on the 5th of next month.
