[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Kim Sung-yeol] The Vietnam national football team, led by coach Park Hang-seo, recorded a draw against Jordan.

Vietnam has drawn 0-0 for two consecutive matches, following the match against the United Arab Emirates (UAE), earning 2 points.

Accordingly, Vietnam must win the remaining match against North Korea to have a chance to advance to the quarterfinals.

On the 13th (Korean time) at 10:15 PM, Vietnam played against Jordan in the second match of Group D in the 2020 Asian Football Confederation (AFC) U-23 Championship held in Buriram, Thailand, ending in a 0-0 draw.

With this result, Vietnam ranks 3rd in Group D behind UAE and Jordan, both of whom have recorded 1 win and 1 draw. Currently, in Group D, UAE has scored 2 goals with no goals conceded, and Jordan has scored 2 goals with 1 goal conceded, placing them ahead of Vietnam.

In this tournament, if points are tied, the head-to-head principle will determine the teams advancing to the quarterfinals. Since Vietnam drew with both UAE and Jordan, goal difference and goals scored will decide the quarterfinalists.

If Vietnam wins the final group stage match against North Korea scheduled for the 16th, they can advance from the group along with the winner of the match between UAE and Jordan.

If Vietnam beats North Korea and UAE and Jordan draw, the three teams will each have 1 win and 2 draws.

In this case, Vietnam must achieve a large goal difference against North Korea and consider how many goals are scored in the UAE vs. Jordan match.

Vietnam, which showed frustrating attacks in the previous match against UAE, appeared unstable in defense during this match as well.

In the 3rd minute of the first half, Jordan's Al Bari penetrated down the right flank and passed to Olwan, who immediately crossed. Al Naimat rushed in to target the goal but missed the scoring opportunity as the ball went high.

In the 19th minute of the first half, Ahmed received a through pass from Al Bari behind Vietnam's defense and attempted a right-footed shot, but it was blocked by the goalkeeper's save.

Afterwards, Vietnam overcame several crises thanks to goalkeeper Bui Tien Trung's saves.

At the start of the second half, Vietnam substituted Ha Duc Chinh to strengthen the attack, but finishing remained insufficient.

In the 37th minute of the second half, Ha Duc Chinh saved the ball and Quang Hai connected it to Tien Linh inside the penalty box. Tien Linh consumed time while trapping the ball, and with defenders closing in, he was unable to shoot properly.

Ultimately, neither team scored, and the match ended in a 0-0 draw.

Meanwhile, North Korea, also in Group D, lost 1-2 to Jordan and 0-2 to UAE, confirming their elimination after two defeats. North Korea has not qualified for the finals since the 1976 Montreal Olympics.
