Gwangju Seobu Fire Station Conducts Fire Prevention Inspections at Local Lodging Facilities

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Yoon Jamin] Gwangju Western Fire Station (Chief Kim Youngdon) announced on the 9th that it will conduct fire prevention inspections targeting lodging establishments in the jurisdiction.

This inspection was promoted due to the recent increase in public interest in safety management of lodging facilities following motel arson incidents, and the heightened risk of fire during the winter season.

An inspection team will be organized to check 206 lodging facilities, thoroughly examining the installation of fire extinguishers, the condition of safety pins, hoses, and nozzles, as well as the proper operation of automatic fire detectors and escape devices.

They will also check whether portable emergency lights are installed in each area, secure emergency evacuation routes, and inspect the installation and closure status of locking devices.

In addition, they will verify whether evacuation guidance lights are functioning properly and whether regular fire safety inspections have been conducted.

If any non-compliance is detected, corrective actions will be taken on-site, and follow-up inspections will be conducted to confirm whether the corrections have been implemented.

Lee Heungyeol, the fire special investigation officer, stated, “This inspection aims to eliminate fire risk factors in advance because a fire in lodging facilities can cause significant casualties. We will carefully inspect every corner to ensure a safe lodging environment.”
