[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Kim Sung-yeol] Foreign singer Justin Bieber has revealed that he is battling Lyme disease.

On the 9th, Justin Bieber posted a screenshot of an article on his Instagram stating, "Justin Bieber is battling Lyme disease and has overcome it."

He said, "Many people said I looked bad as if I were doing drugs," adding, "But they probably didn't know that I was diagnosed with Lyme disease."

Lyme disease is an infectious disease caused by Borrelia bacteria invading the body when a person is bitten by a tick, affecting various organs. Pop singer Avril Lavigne also confessed to battling Lyme disease.

In the early stages of the disease, symptoms such as fever, headache, fatigue, and a characteristic skin lesion called erythema migrans appear, and if not treated early, it becomes chronic.

Bieber said, "It is a chronic disease that affects my skin, brain function, vitality, and overall health," adding, "I will explain these in detail in a documentary series that I will soon upload on YouTube."

He continued, "It has been difficult for several years, but I am determined to receive proper treatment that will help cure this incurable disease and come back."
