[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Seon-ae] Dongwon F&B announced on the 9th that it will release a limited edition package of the penguin collaboration tuna can for Antarctic environmental protection, "Namguk Penguin Tuna," on the 16th.


Namguk Tuna is a tuna can that Pengsu, a tuna enthusiast, revealed he usually enjoys eating. Originally, Namguk Tuna was a fictional product parodying Dongwon Tuna, but through this collaboration, it has been realized as an actual product and will be launched. A portion of the sales proceeds from the Namguk Tuna package will be donated to HOOXI, a global climate agreement practice campaign by the W Foundation, to protect the environment of Antarctica, Pengsu's hometown.


Tuna is a high-protein, low-fat seafood rich in calcium, DHA, EPA, protein, omega-6, and vitamins, making it a healthy food. In particular, Namguk Tuna has enhanced nutritional content by increasing the DHA content, which is beneficial for children's brain development, compared to regular lean tuna cans.


The Namguk Tuna package consists of five cans of Namguk Tuna and one type of "Pengsu Tuna" featuring the Pengsu character. "Pengsu Tuna" includes a total of 15 designs with Pengsu's cute expressions and witty quotes. The colorful hues and charming designs add fun and attract consumers' attention.


To commemorate the launch of the Namguk Tuna package, Dongwon F&B is conducting the "Together Campaign with Pengsu." Consumers can actively participate in Antarctic environmental protection by uploading certification shots of Namguk Tuna or Pengsu Tuna on social networking services (SNS) with the essential hashtags (#Together #ProtectPengsuHometown).


Pengsu, as an EBS trainee, boasts overwhelming popularity and buzz by appearing on various broadcasts and radio shows, as well as in advertisements and the fashion industry. The collaboration between Dongwon Tuna and Pengsu will be actively promoted through various online and offline events, including TV commercials, starting with the launch of the Namguk Tuna package.


A Dongwon F&B official said, "'Namguk Tuna' was the product most requested by customers after news of the collaboration between Dongwon Tuna and Pengsu was announced, so we actively pursued product realization. Recently, as the group has been actively engaging in sustainable fisheries and essential environmental management, this 'Namguk Tuna' holds deep significance as it contributes to environmental protection beyond just a new product launch."


The limited edition "Namguk Tuna" package includes six 135g cans of lean tuna and is priced at 11,480 KRW.
