[Asia Economy Reporter Han Seung-gon] Ahead of the April 15 general election, the Democratic Party of Korea's newly recruited young members expressed negative views on the prosecution investigating allegations related to former Minister of Justice Cho Kuk on the 7th.

Regarding the controversy over former Minister Cho Kuk's children's education, they emphasized that it was "a common practice among parents at the time."

Oh Young-hwan (31), a former firefighter who joined the Democratic Party as its "5th talent recruit," said at a press conference held by the Democratic Party at the National Assembly that day, "Of course, there may be faults related to former Minister Cho Kuk. I am afraid of the situation where even minor faults are exaggerated and blown out of proportion, causing distrust and suspicion among the public."

Regarding the prosecution's investigation, he said, "I think this has become an opportunity to reconsider how fearful prosecutorial power is and why there is a need for forces to check it."

He added, "However, since this is an ongoing investigation, I believe it is not appropriate to casually express my judgments and thoughts."

Also, Won Jong-geon (26), who was announced as the second recruit on December 29 last year, said in an interview with Hankook Ilbo that "there are certainly wrong aspects regarding former Minister Cho's moral laxity."

He then emphasized, "It seems that the prosecution holding former Minister Cho accountable also has problems," and added, "If you ask whether the prosecution conducted the investigation from the perspective of fairness and justice, I think the answer is no, which is regrettable."
