Emotional Pub I Want to See Now, "In the New Year, We Will Support Bar Franchise Startups with More Diverse Policies"

Following last year, many people are expected to challenge entrepreneurship again in 2020, and statistics revealing the reality of the startup environment are becoming a hot topic.

According to the results of the "2018 Small Business Survey," conducted by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups and Statistics Korea to understand the status and business environment of small business owners in South Korea, the proportion of small business owners by industry is 32.5% in wholesale and retail, 23.7% in accommodation and food services, and 13.0% in manufacturing. Additionally, their average preparation period for starting a business is 9.5 months, with an average startup cost of 103 million KRW, of which the personal contribution amounts to 72 million KRW (70.0%).

In particular, the annual sales per business were found to be 235 million KRW (19.58 million KRW per month), and operating profit was 34 million KRW annually (2.83 million KRW per month), highlighting the need for various policies and measures to support small business owners.

Amid this situation, there is a pub startup franchise brand attracting attention by recording monthly sales of 160 million KRW and net profit of 68 million KRW from a small-sized store. The brand "Jigeum Bogosipda," which is gaining interest as a gallery-style emotional pub and continuing its growth, is the protagonist.

The Gallery Emotional Pub Capital Region Headquarters "Jigeum Bogosipda" is well known as a brand that has achieved remarkable sales results in major stores within just over a year since starting its franchise business. Experts who have operated or participated as shareholders in brands such as the natural meal Korean soup brand "Sunnam Siraegi" with 105 franchise stores nationwide, the complex cultural multi-room brand "Smile Multi Room" with 100 franchise stores nationwide, the PC cafe startup brand "Stardom PC," the antique emotional chicken brand "Bonggu Tongdak," and the American newtro coffee brand "Daily Tea" are directly involved in the headquarters' operations.

The 40-pyeong (approximately 132 square meters) Suwon Station branch surpassed monthly sales of 100 million KRW after changing its business type from a low-cost bar, and the neighborhood market Paju Geumchon branch exceeded daily sales of 2.7 million KRW. Especially, the Gangnam Station 2nd branch, with 55 tables, is showing remarkable success by exceeding daily sales of 10 million KRW.

As a factor contributing to these achievements, a representative of the pub startup franchise "Jigeum Bogosipda" cites a systematic management system first. He explained, "To start a pub business, it is essential to check whether the item and brand have differentiation compared to competitors in the same industry, whether the management team has experience with successful brands that anyone can recognize, and whether the store or facilities are of a reasonable scale for investment. Also, it is important to thoroughly verify whether continuous research and development efforts are being made on the item."

Recognized as a pub startup brand equipped with differentiated elements such as an emotional space filled with classy gallery artworks, appetizers that satisfy both visual appeal and taste, and patented alcoholic beverage menus available only here, the Gallery Emotional Pub Capital Region Headquarters "Jigeum Bogosipda" has recently opened an R&D center staffed with professionals to continuously strengthen franchise competitiveness.

After being verified as a hot place through a two-year test store in Daegu Dongseong-ro, the youth street, it expanded into the capital region. It is also known for thorough franchise management, with a dedicated Happy Advisor and coordinator assigned after franchise contracts to provide close management from preparation to opening and post-opening sales management.

A brand representative stated, "We are actively supporting new franchise stores, and inquiries about startups continue into the new year," adding, "While focusing on the capital region business first, we are operating various support systems such as 100% support for SNS three-type marketing costs for new franchises up to the 100th store and interest-free loans up to 200 million KRW to help with startup costs through promotions."
