No more sub-titles are going to be needed for overseas fans of MBC's popular reality show, "We Got Married."
"We Got Married" will soon be produced into an international version under the letter of invent [LOI] signed between Korea's major broadcaster MBC and Sony Pictures Entertainment Networks Asia [SPENA] in Singapore on July 18, according to MBC’s press release on Monday.
The official explained that MBC is in charge of making 12 to 15 episodes for the new version's first season and SPENA will air it through their cable channel networks in 41 countries--including China, Taiwan, Indo, and Australia-- in the winter or next spring season.
The producers noted that it will keep the original format, in which celebrities act as a married couple, but a few changes will be made to differentiate itself from the original.
The broadcaster officials will cast stars from different backgrounds to show how they understand and learn about each other's culture.
The reality show has been one of the hottest reality shows here that has been aired for over four years since hitting the airwaves in March of 2008.
Many young idols shot to stardom after appearing in the marriage-experience program, such as Jo Kwon of 2AM and Ga-in of Brown Eyed Girls, Jung Yong-hwa of CNBLUE and Seohyun of Girls’ Generation.
Nichkhun of 2PM and Victoria of f(x) also made their appearances in the second season aired between 2009 and 2011 as a non-Korean couple.
MBC also aired a special on Valentine's day this year in collaboration with Shanghai Media Group, featuring Super Junior's Kyuhyun getting acting as a real married couple with Chinese actress Lou Yi Xiao and T-ara's Hyomin with BoBo’s member Fu Xin Bo.
