2NE1, Girls' Generation make SPIN Magazine's top 20 best album list

Korean female idols 2NE1 and Girls' Generation's releases have made it into the list of top 20 best albums of the year by U.S' SPIN Magazine, according to its official website on Friday.

SPIN's website showed that 2NE1's second mini-album, released in Korea in April, came in sixth place on its chart for the "20 Best Pop Albums of 2011."

The article on the website compared 2NE1 to famed R&B trio TLC and went on to describe their album as, "A collision of electro-house, hip-hop, and pop-rock guitar, with yet another undeniable hook cropping up every 15 seconds...... this all-female foursome clearly own their persona more than most K-Poppers, particularly on the spicy, playalistic 'I Am the Best' and the body-image throwdown, 'Ugly.'"

In the meantime, Girls' Generation's first full-length Japanese album "GIRLS' GENERATION" was No. 18 on the list with an article saying, "the peak is 'Run Devil Run,' a white swan/black swan kiss-off with a chorus so confidently sassy it could stop a North Korean missile in mid-air."

2NE1, formed of members CL, Park Bom, Sandara Park and Minzy, made their debut in May 2009 after being discovered and trained by major talenthouse YG Entertainment.

The girls have created a splash overseas, being picked as the best band of the year by MTV's IGGY, working with Black Eyed Peas member will.i.am on their U.S. debut album as well as having their song "I Am the Best" named as one of the best singles in 2011 by U.S. Slant Magazine.

Girls' Generation, composed of members Taeyeon, Tiffany, Hyoyeon, Sunny, Jessica, Seohyun, Yoona, Yuri and Sooyoung, is known as one of the popular girl groups in Korea since their debut in 2007.

They recently released their maxi-single which includes their hit song "The Boys" that features the rap by famed U.S. rapper Snoop Dogg.
