Actress Park rakes in product sales in China

Korean Wave star Park Eun-hye is proving to be an effective spokesperson, according to a report on Thursday.

Hana Cosmetics, a cosmetic company in China, reportedly achieved 30 billion won, or over 25 million dollars, in annual sales and opened 1,000 new stores in a year by August after hiring Park as their advertising model.

"Park is known as an angelic Hallyu star, donating money to tsunami victims in China," explained an official at Hana Cosmetics. "Sales have skyrocketed since she visited Shanghai as a publicity ambassador for the International Cosmetic Exhibition in June."

The official added the company plans to launch 3,000 stores by the end of next year.

In addition, a chocolate product named "Yonseng Tangerine Chocolate" is reportedly a sell-out at some stores. "Yonseng" is the character Park played in the hit drama "Jewel in the Palace".

"It's currently the most popular chocolate product amongst Chinese, Japanese and East Asian fans," explained an official at product-maker Royal Bakeries. "Last month, we gave out 2,000 handheld fans with Park's photograph to foreign tourists as a gift for her fans."

Park has also signed a number of endorsement deals in Korea since marrying last year. She is the spokesperson for soft drink Welch's, medicinal cream Madecassol, apartment brand Feelhaus, casual wear Guggen and a publicity ambassador to China for Korea Tourism Organization.

"I am glad because only good things are happening since I got married," the 31-year-old actress was quoted as saying. "I am considering making a comeback next year, so I will meet you soon."

Park rose to fame in 2003 with a supporting role in hit MBC TV series "Jewel in the Palace", which starred Hallyu star Lee Young-ae.
