Posting on his social media platform Truth Social, President Trump condemned them, saying, "The uncontrollably screaming behavior at last night's very important State of the Union address made them look like crazy people, like lunatics." He singled out the conduct of specific Democratic lawmakers and wrote that "they look like they should be confined to a mental institution."

During the speech, some Democratic lawmakers loudly objected to President Trump's remarks touting his achievements on immigration policy. Congresswoman Ilhan Omar shouted, "You killed Americans." Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib also yelled, denouncing President Trump's comments as "lies."

President Trump went on to call those lawmakers "corrupt and degenerate politicians," insisting that "they are harming our country." He added that they should be "sent back to where they came from as quickly as possible."

Trump also brought up Hollywood actor Robert De Niro, lumping him together by saying that he is "someone who should leave along with De Niro." De Niro strongly criticized President Trump's policies after receiving the Honorary Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival last year.
