A wife who stormed into the scene of her husband's affair, assaulted the other woman and injured her, then took nude photos to threaten her, has been sentenced to a prison term.

According to a Yonhap News report on the 25th, the 12th Criminal Division of the Ulsan District Court, presided over by Senior Judge Park Junghong, sentenced a woman in her 40s, identified as A, to one year in prison and ordered her to complete 40 hours of a sexual violence treatment program. She was brought to trial on charges including violation of the Act on Special Cases Concerning the Punishment, etc. of Sexual Crimes.

Wife Who Assaulted Husband's Mistress at Affair Scene Sentenced to Prison

A was indicted on charges that in October 2024 she went to the scene of her husband's affair, assaulted the other woman, identified as B, causing injury, and threatened to distribute nude photos. At the time, after hearing that "her husband had been seen entering a motel with a woman" and becoming enraged, she went to the lodging establishment, where she kicked B, who was naked, and otherwise assaulted her for about 20 minutes. Due to A's assault, B suffered injuries requiring four weeks of medical treatment, including a fractured rib. A then used her mobile phone to film B as she was trying to get dressed and frightened her by saying she would distribute the images.

Afterward, A also contacted someone at B's workplace and threatened B by saying, "I have just entrusted B's nude photos to a print shop" and "Tell her I will make it impossible for her to live in this area."

The court stated, "The defendant assaulted and threatened B and even contacted her workplace, so the nature of the crime is poor." It went on to explain the reasons for sentencing by noting, "She has made no effort whatsoever to compensate the victim." However, the court added, "There are circumstances to be taken into account regarding the background of A's crime, and there is no risk of flight," and therefore did not take her into custody in the courtroom despite imposing a prison sentence, in order to give the parties an opportunity to reach a settlement.
