The city will allocate a total budget of 370 million won to this project in 2026. Eligible properties include houses and ancillary buildings that contain slate, as well as non-residential facilities such as warehouses, livestock sheds, and facilities for seniors and children.

Owners of slate-structured buildings can apply by visiting the nearest eup, myeon, or dong Administrative Welfare Center after checking the required documents posted in the public notice section on the Yangju City Hall website.

For general households, the city will provide 3.52 million won per building for the disposal of slate from residential houses, and will fully cover the disposal costs for non-residential slate structures up to 200 square meters. In addition, roof improvement work will be supported with priority given to small houses, at up to 3 million won per building, and up to a maximum of 5 million won within the budget limit.

For priority support households (such as basic livelihood security recipients, lower-income households, and households with persons with disabilities), the city will fully cover the demolition and disposal costs for houses, and will also fully cover roof improvement costs up to 10 million won per building. However, in all cases, any portion that exceeds the maximum support amount or the supported area must be borne by the applicant.

In addition, the city will temporarily operate a “Year of Waste Slate Collection” initiative and plans to give priority support to the disposal of damaged slate roofs and residual slate debris around such buildings.

An official from Yangju City said, “Through this project, we aim to enable citizens to live in a safer and more pleasant residential environment, reduce the financial burden associated with slate disposal, and gradually eliminate remaining slate in the region,” adding, “We ask for the active participation of building owners.”
