Continuing Tournament Sponsorship Activities for Three Consecutive Years

Lotte Mart is extending its support for aspiring young skiers for the third consecutive year.

Lotte Mart announced on the 26th that it will be the main sponsor of the "2nd National Ski Tournament for Everyday Sports for the President of the Korea Ski & Snowboard Association, with Lotte Mart," which will be held on the 28th at Yongpyong Resort in Pyeongchang-gun, Gangwon Province.

This tournament serves as the grand final to determine the winner of the "Korea Alpine Ski Champions League 2026." A total of 128 elementary and middle school students who achieved top rankings in the previous four league events will compete in eight categories divided by school grade and gender, using an alpine ski "giant slalom" dual tournament format.

A dual tournament is a one-on-one head-to-head format in which two athletes ski simultaneously on left and right parallel courses under identical conditions, and the one who crosses the finish line first advances to the next round.

Including this tournament, Lotte Mart has been sponsoring ski events for three consecutive years. Taking into account the relatively underdeveloped training infrastructure in snow sports compared with ice sports, the company has focused on providing promising young skiers with substantial competition experience.

Lotte Mart's sponsorship of ski tournaments is in line with Lotte Group's more than decade-long efforts to foster snow sports. Since 2014, Lotte has served as the title sponsor of the Korea Ski & Snowboard Association and has provided about 30 billion won in support. Based on this, the group has worked to strengthen the competitiveness of Korean skiing and snowboarding through multifaceted support, including improving training environments, supporting participation in international competitions, and introducing equipment and customized training programs.

The Lotte Ski & Snowboard Team, established in 2022, is delivering remarkable performances on the international stage based on a systematic development system for promising athletes. In particular, at the Milan-Cortina d'Ampezzo 2026 Winter Olympics, which concluded on the 23rd, athletes from the Lotte Ski & Snowboard Team achieved the feat of winning one gold medal and one silver medal.

In line with the group’s philosophy of fostering snow sports, Lotte Mart plans to continue sponsoring tournaments for next-generation athletes and contribute to broadening the base of skiing.

Park Sangwook, Head of Strategic Marketing for Lotte Mart and Lotte Super, said, "We hope this tournament will serve as an opportunity for young athletes to challenge themselves toward bigger dreams," adding, "We will continue to contribute to the development of the sports industry and talent cultivation through sustained support for less popular sports."
