The morning commute on the 26th in the Gwangju and Jeonnam regions is expected to face thick fog and thin ice on the roads, requiring extra caution for traffic safety.
According to the Gwangju Regional Meteorological Administration on the 25th, the weather in Gwangju and Jeonnam on the 26th will be clear at first and then gradually become cloudy from the morning.
For the time being, temperatures are expected to remain milder than the seasonal averages (morning lows of -2 to 3 degrees, daytime highs of 9 to 12 degrees). On the 26th, morning lows will range from -2 to 6 degrees, and daytime highs will range from 11 to 16 degrees. A representative from the Korea Meteorological Administration explained that, especially in inland areas, the temperature difference between day and night will widen to over 15 degrees, so people should pay close attention to their health.
Strong, biting winds will blow mainly over the sea and along coastal areas. A strong wind advisory has been issued for Geomundo and Chodo, and a high seas warning is in effect for the distant waters of the western South Sea.
At sea, through the 26th, winds will be very strong at 9 to 15 meters per second, and waves will be high at 1.5 to 3.5 meters. Strong winds have also been forecast for the distant waters of the southern West Sea and the western part of the South Sea nearshore through the 27th, so vessels engaged in navigation and fishing operations need to exercise particular caution.
An official from the Gwangju Regional Meteorological Administration urged, "The risk of traffic accidents is high due to thick fog and thin ice on the roads during the morning commute, so drivers must reduce their speed," adding, "Since the temperature difference between day and night is very large at more than 15 degrees, please take care of your health, and also be thoroughly prepared for maritime safety accidents caused by strong winds at sea."
