Pohang City will sell 23 billion won worth of Pohang Love Gift Certificates (Pohang Love Card), in both card-type and mobile formats, at a 10% discount starting from March 3, in order to help the local economy recover and stabilize people's livelihoods.
Following the 83 billion won already issued by this month, the city will additionally issue this 23 billion won, distributing a total of 106 billion won worth of gift certificates in circulation in the early part of this year alone, with the aim of boosting consumption in neighborhood commercial districts.
This discounted sale will apply the same 10% discount rate as in February.
The monthly purchase limit per person is set at 400,000 won, and the holding limit at 700,000 won. The city expects this to ease household financial burdens for citizens and provide practical support in increasing sales for small business owners.
From 12:15 a.m. on March 3, top-ups for the Pohang Love Card will be available via the mobile app "iM Shop" or at the branches of 104 sales-agency financial institutions within the region.
The city plans to continue expanding the number of sales-agency locations for the convenience of citizens.
In particular, the number of affiliated merchants accepting the Pohang Love Gift Certificates has increased by 238 compared to last year, reaching a total of 25,275 locations this year.
In addition to physical card payments, a variety of payment methods are supported, including Samsung Pay and Naver Pay QR, and the certificates can also be used conveniently on the taxi-hailing app "Taboso" and the delivery app "Meokgaebi."
However, registration as affiliated merchants is restricted for large-scale and semi-large-scale stores, entertainment and karaoke bars, gambling-related industries, and businesses with annual sales exceeding 3 billion won.
Small business owners who wish to register as affiliated merchants can apply via the city hall website or at their local eup, myeon, and dong administrative welfare centers.
Jang Sanggil, Acting Mayor of Pohang, said, "We hope that the Pohang Love Gift Certificates, intensively issued at the beginning of the year, will provide practical help to both citizens and small business owners and energize the local economy," adding, "We will continue to promote policies that strengthen the virtuous circulation of local funds."
