The Yeonggwang Bulgapsan Sangsahwa Festival, Yeonggwang County in South Jeolla Province's representative autumn festival, won the Grand Prize in the Festival Tourism category at the 14th Korea Festival Content Awards ceremony held on the 24th at the Peace and Park Convention inside the War Memorial in Yongsan-gu, Seoul.

The Korea Festival Content Awards is a ceremony hosted by the Korea Festival Contents Association and organized by the Korea Festival Content Awards Executive Committee. Each year, it selects outstanding festivals nationwide by comprehensively evaluating content competitiveness, tourism ripple effects, and contributions to the local community.

In this year’s awards, the Yeonggwang Bulgapsan Sangsahwa Festival was recognized for its success in operating a festival where nature, culture, and tourism harmonize by utilizing the nation’s largest colony of Sangsahwa flowers set against the backdrop of Bulgapsan Mountain. In particular, it was highly praised for moving beyond viewing-oriented events to strengthen experiential and emotion-driven content, and for presenting differentiated programs linked with local resources.

An official from Yeonggwang County stated, “This award is a valuable achievement made possible by the dedication of those who have devoted themselves to the Sangsahwa Festival and by the interest and participation of our residents,” adding, “We will continue to strengthen the content and pursue high-quality festival management so that the Yeonggwang Bulgapsan Sangsahwa Festival can firmly establish itself as a premier festival representing Korea.”

Meanwhile, the Yeonggwang Bulgapsan Sangsahwa Festival was recently selected for the second cohort (2026-2027) of the “Local 100” program organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, once again proving its status as a nationally certified cultural asset representing the region. Local 100 is a project that discovers unique local cultural resources and supports their nationwide promotion and branding, and this selection is regarded as recognition of the Sangsahwa Festival’s cultural value and tourism competitiveness.
