Kyungnam University Holds 77th 2025 Spring Commencement Ceremony

Celebrating 80 Years Since Founding, 1,918 Degrees Conferred
A First Step Toward the Future

On the 25th, Kyungnam University held the 77th 2025 Spring Commencement Ceremony in the main auditorium of the main building.

Founded in 1946 with the mission of setting the nation’s future on the right path, Kyungnam University is celebrating the 80th anniversary of its establishment this year. Over the years, it has served as an educational foundation that has led the development of the nation and the region, spearheading the diversification of local higher education and firmly establishing its status as a prestigious private university in the region.

Through this commencement ceremony, Kyungnam University is conferring degrees on a total of 1,918 future talents, including 43 doctoral degrees, 200 master’s degrees (90 from the Graduate School, 28 from the Graduate School of Industrial Management, 58 from the Graduate School of Education, and 24 from the Graduate School of Public Administration), and 1,675 bachelor’s degrees.

In addition, the university’s achievements in nurturing talent through public lectures have been further enhanced, including 89 graduates of the Graduate School of Public Administration’s Advanced Program in Unification and Future Studies, thereby further strengthening the network of 160,000 alumni.

At the ceremony, professors, staff, family members, and acquaintances gathered to celebrate the graduates’ new beginning. In particular, there was prolonged and enthusiastic applause for alumnus Lee Kunyoung from the Department of Law, who earned a doctoral degree at over seventy years of age, leaving a deep impression on those present.

In his commencement address, President Park Jaekyu said, “This year is a meaningful year as Kyungnam University celebrates the 80th anniversary of its founding,” adding, “Despite difficult conditions at home and abroad, we have been steadily carrying out large-scale national projects and have proudly continued our 80-year history as an educational foundation together with our 160,000 proud Hanma family members.”

He continued, “As you graduates did not stop learning even amid the unfamiliar environment of the pandemic and the mix of online and offline classes, I hope you will walk confidently into this era of change and innovation with a spirit of creativity and challenge.”
