On the 25th, the two organizations held a joint meeting at the Busan Port Authority’s New Port Branch, where they discussed concrete cooperation measures to proactively manage fire risk factors in the port and its hinterland logistics complexes.

This cooperation focuses on going beyond simple inspections to jointly establish practical, on-site-oriented preventive measures that take into account the specific characteristics of ports and logistics complexes.

At the meeting, the two organizations carried out: sharing of recent business-site fire cases and related data; analysis of major seasonal fire risk factors; provision of fire prevention consulting optimized for port characteristics; and mutual review of initial response systems.

In particular, they agreed to operate an effective cooperative system that combines fire protection technical support with port operation know-how, in order to enhance workplaces’ autonomous safety management capabilities.

They also plan to conduct prior joint inspections and safety consulting for high-risk facilities and other vulnerable fire factors within the port, and to advance the emergency contact network and response system between the two organizations so that information can be shared immediately in the event of an emergency.

Changwon Fire Chief Lee Sanggi stated, “Because fires at port facilities can easily escalate into major disasters, cooperation at the prevention stage is more important than anything else,” adding, “We will further enhance the fire safety management system through close collaboration with the Busan Port Authority.”

Busan Port Authority President Song Sanggeun added, “Safely managing and operating Busan Port, the driving force of the national economy, is our core mission,” and emphasized, “By combining the Changwon Fire Department’s professional fire prevention capabilities with our on-site management expertise, we will do our utmost to create an environment where tenant companies and workers can carry out their work with peace of mind.”
