This forum, hosted by the Industrial Construction Committee of the Gumi City Council, was organized to secure competitiveness in quantum technologies, which are a core technology for the future, and to explore policy directions at the local government level for innovation in Gumi’s manufacturing sector. Around 100 participants, including experts in related fields, corporate representatives, and ordinary citizens, attended the event, demonstrating strong interest.

The forum began with two keynote presentations. First, Dr. Heo Changhoon of the POSCO Holdings Future Technology Research Institute gave a presentation on the topic "Quantum Technology×AI: The Convergence of Two Technologies That Will Transform Future Industries." This was followed by Professor Cho Myeongrae of the Department of Physics at Kyungpook National University, who presented on "The Present and Challenges of Superconducting Quantum Computing: From Hardware to the Industrial Ecosystem," proposing strategic response measures tailored to Gumi’s industrial landscape.

In the subsequent panel discussion, Kim Guigon, Head of the Gumi Policy Development Center, served as moderator and led an in-depth debate. Panelists Lee Jiyeon and Jeong Jiwon, members of the Gumi City Council, Nam Byeongguk, Director General of the Gumi City Advanced Industries Bureau, Lee Wanghun, Head of the GERI Semiconductor and Defense Industry Research Center, and Kwon O-yong, Head of Business Management at SDT Co., Ltd., emphasized the need to build an industry-academia-research collaboration system for the introduction of quantum technologies and to cultivate specialized human resources in order to secure industrial sustainability. They also proposed measures such as attracting a quantum cluster and developing regionally specialized quantum technology industries.

In particular, the forum was especially meaningful in that it enhanced the potential for reflecting opinions in policy by directly listening to the candid voices of corporate representatives and citizens through a question-and-answer session.

Park Gyosang, Chairperson of the Gumi City Council, stated, "Quantum technologies will be a practical key to driving innovation in Gumi’s manufacturing sector," adding, "We will spare no policy support so that the valuable recommendations made at today’s forum can serve as a foundation for fostering advanced industries in Gumi."
