The Kwangwoon University Pangyo Campus, which Gyeonggi Housing and Urban Development Corporation (GH) attracted to foster strategic industries at the Pangyo Global Biz Center, has established itself as a key hub in the Republic of Korea's AI and robotics sectors just one year after its opening.
Over the past year, the Kwangwoon University Pangyo Campus has gone beyond serving as a simple educational facility to function as a hub connecting an industry-academia-research technology network. In particular, in January it successfully hosted "ROSConKR 2026," the first Robot Operating System (ROS) developers' conference in Korea, at the Pangyo Global Biz Center. In February, it launched the "Intelligent Robot Talent Development Council," which links local governments with industry.
Efforts to nurture future talent for the local community are also accelerating. On the 21st of this month, the university held the "Kwangwoon University AI Robot Dream-Up Camp" for elementary, middle, and high school students under the Kwangwoon Educational Foundation, providing young people with an opportunity to directly experience AI (Artificial Intelligence), ICT (Information and Communication Technology), and robotics infrastructure.

Starting with this camp, Kwangwoon University plans to fully implement its "Seamless KW" strategy, which aims to connect with the local community without boundaries.
The university intends to expand the educational targets to elementary, middle, and high schools throughout all areas of Seoul and Gyeonggi Province, thereby building a practical future education ecosystem that breaks down the barriers between schools and the community. Through this, it aims to develop the initiative into a "sustainable, community-based AI education platform" that enables young people to explore career paths while experiencing advanced technologies.
Kim Yongjin, President of GH, stated, "Attracting the Kwangwoon University Pangyo Campus was a strategic choice to transform Pangyo from a mere industrial complex into an innovation hub where the pipeline of future technology talent never runs dry," adding, "Going forward, we will continue to contribute to the growth of the Republic of Korea's robotics industry through a close partnership with Kwangwoon University."
