The Korea Festival Content Awards is a leading domestic festival evaluation and awards program hosted by the Korea Festival Content Association and organized by the Executive Committee of the Korea Festival Content Awards. It comprehensively evaluates regional festivals held across the country during 2025, assessing content competitiveness, locality, sustainability, and growth potential, and selects excellent festivals in each category.

This year, a total of 38 festivals nationwide were finally selected across eight categories, and in the Cultural Heritage and History category, five festivals, including the Danjong Cultural Festival, made the list.

The Danjong Cultural Festival is Yeongwol County's representative festival based on the historical significance of King Danjong, the sixth king of the Joseon Dynasty, and the region's identity. It has been recognized for expanding the value of local cultural heritage in a modern way through citizen-led participatory programs, reenactments of traditional rituals, and the operation of historical education content.

An official from Yeongwol County stated, "The Danjong Cultural Festival, which began in 1967 under the initiative of local residents, has continued for more than half a century and grown into a festival that combines both historical value and popular appeal," adding, "By linking it with local historical and cultural assets such as Jangneung in Yeongwol and Cheongnyeongpo, we will further solidify its status as a cultural tourism brand and develop it into a high-quality historical and cultural festival that resonates with both residents and visitors."

Meanwhile, the 59th Danjong Cultural Festival in 2026 is scheduled to be held over three days from April 24 to April 26 in and around Yeongwol.
