President Lee Jaemyung will preside over an "Expanded National Tourism Strategy Meeting" on the 25th to discuss measures to attract 30 million foreign tourists.

On this afternoon, President Lee will attend the 11th National Tourism Strategy Meeting, which will be held under the theme of "K-Tourism Embracing the World - A Great Transformation of Tourism to Korea and a Great Leap Forward for Regional Tourism." This will be the first time in seven years, since 2019, that the president has personally attended a National Tourism Strategy Meeting.

This meeting has been convened to discuss a plan to attract 30 million foreign tourists through inter-ministerial cooperation and coordination. In particular, the "Measures to Eradicate Price Gouging" prepared by the Ministry of Economy and Finance has been put on the agenda for review. President Lee has repeatedly called for countermeasures, criticizing price gouging as an "anachronistic malpractice" via social networking services (SNS) and at Cabinet meetings.

In addition, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism will present "Plans for a Great Transformation of Tourism to Korea and a Great Leap Forward for Regional Tourism," and the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport will announce a "Strategy to Turn Regional Airports into Inbound Tourism Hubs." The Ministry of Justice is scheduled to report on "Measures to Improve Immigration Convenience," and the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries will report on "Improvements to the Cruise Tourism Reception System." After the briefings, participants will move on to proposals regarding the government plan, hearing requests from the tourism industry, and a joint discussion session.

A total of 56 people from the Blue House, the government, and the private sector will attend the meeting. From the government, Prime Minister Kim Minseok, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance Koo Yooncheol, as well as the ministers of Education; the Interior and Safety; Culture, Sports and Tourism; Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs; Health and Welfare; Land, Infrastructure and Transport; and SMEs and Startups will participate. From the Blue House, policy chief Kim Yongbeom and senior presidential secretaries will attend. From the private sector, Lee Boojin, Chairperson of the Visit Korea Committee, and others are scheduled to join.
