Seongnam City Draws Up Additional 239.6 Billion Won Budget for 2025, Total Reaches 4.1804 Trillion Won

Submission of the First Supplementary Budget to the City Council
Including Construction Costs for the Pangyo System Semiconductor Research Center

Seongnam City in Gyeonggi Province announced on the 25th that it has drawn up its first supplementary budget plan of this year, which includes an additional 239.6 billion won for projects such as the construction cost of the Pangyo System Semiconductor Research Center, and submitted it to the city council.

If this supplementary budget bill is approved at the "309th Extraordinary Session of the Seongnam City Council," scheduled to be held from March 12, the city’s total budget for this year will increase by 6.08%, from the original 3.9408 trillion won to 4.1804 trillion won.


Major project costs reflected in the supplementary budget include: 26.2 billion won for building the Pangyo System Semiconductor Research Center, which will serve as a foundation for the development of the Fourth Industrial Revolution; 11.3 billion won to support public transportation fare refunds for K-Pass card users; 3.3 billion won in transition subsidies for those who purchase electric vehicles after scrapping or selling internal combustion engine vehicles; 2 billion won for facility improvements at the Sujeong Youth Training Center; 1 billion won for construction of a water play area in Ori Park; and 990 million won for citizens’ sports events.


In addition, the plan includes 1.75 billion won for new senior centers and rental support; 248 million won for facility repairs at two locations including the Taepyeong 3-dong Welfare Center; and an additional 110 million won in project funds to raise the congratulatory longevity payment for citizens aged 100 from the current 500,000 won to 1 million won.


To expand road infrastructure, the supplementary budget will also fund: 300 million won as the city’s share of the right-turn lane expansion work at Siheung Intersection in Sujeong-gu; 310 million won for repair work on expansion joints of road covering structures in Taepyeong-dong, Sujeong-gu; 350 million won to replace inspection hatch covers in the Seopangyo Tunnel; and 150 million won for road improvement work at Dolma Intersection in Yatap-dong, Bundang.


Other citizen-oriented leisure enhancement projects included are: 740 million won for installing windbreaks and shade structures at sports facilities in neighborhood parks in Bundang-gu; 450 million won for a deck maintenance project at Sootnae Retention Basin in Sampyeong-dong; 400 million won for a redevelopment project of the High-Tech Valley Park in Sangdaewon-dong, Jungwon-gu; and 250 million won for installing windbreaks at the badminton courts in Heemangdae Park in Sinheung-dong.


A Seongnam City official said, "This supplementary budget plan focuses on projects that citizens can feel in their daily lives, including roads, welfare, and sports, while at the same time expanding the foundation for future industries," adding, "As soon as the budget is finalized, we will execute it swiftly to boost the local economy and help improve the quality of life for citizens."
