Cho Kyu-il Leads City-County Cooperation... Gyeongnam Mayors and County Heads Council Convenes

The Gyeongsangnam-do Mayors and County Heads Council (Chairman Cho Kyu-il, Mayor of Jinju) held the “98th Gyeongnam Mayors and County Heads Council Regular Meeting” at the Goseong-gun Youth Hostel on the 24th.

The meeting was presided over by Jinju Mayor Cho Kyu-il, who serves as chairman of the council, and shared the outcomes of the “2nd Joint Co-Chairs Meeting of the 4th Year of the 8th Popularly Elected Term” of the Association of Mayors, County Governors, and District Heads of the Republic of Korea, along with the follow-up results on the proposals raised at the “97th Gyeongnam Mayors and County Heads Council Regular Meeting” held in Geoje last October.

In addition, a total of three proposals, including the “Proposal to Simplify Procedures and Shorten Timelines in Promoting Public Architecture Projects,” were reviewed and approved at the meeting. These agenda items will be delivered to the central government through Gyeongnam Province and the Association of Mayors, County Governors, and District Heads of the Republic of Korea.

Chairman Cho Kyu-il said, “Over the past four years of the 8th popularly elected term, I am deeply grateful to the mayors and county heads who have done their utmost to resolve local issues and pursue joint development amid rapidly changing social, economic, and administrative environments,” and added, “Let us continue to pool our strength, based on mutual trust and cooperation, to improve the quality of life of provincial residents and achieve balanced regional development.”

Meanwhile, the Gyeongsangnam-do Mayors and County Heads Council holds regular meetings on a quarterly basis, rotating among cities and counties within the province, in order to jointly respond to local governance development and key regional issues.
