MCST Holds Inaugural Ceremony for the "2026 Korea Policy Reporters Corps"

40 Finalists Selected From a Competition Rate of Over 20 to 1

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism announced that it will hold the "2026 Korea Policy Reporters Corps Inaugural Ceremony" at 1:00 p.m. on the 25th at the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Seoul.

The Korea Policy Reporters Corps is a citizen reporters group that directly experiences government policies from the public's perspective and delivers, in article form, how those policies permeate everyday life. It was launched in 2008 and is now in its 19th year.

Through an open call, 40 members were finally selected from among the general public who have an interest in policy and the ability to write articles and produce content. A total of 831 people applied for this year's recruitment, resulting in a competition rate of more than 20 to 1.

Until December this year, over a period of about 10 months, the reporters corps will cover and experience various policy sites and write articles based on those experiences. The coverage results will be published on the Korea Policy Briefing website and the official blog, among other channels.

At the inaugural ceremony, in addition to awarding reporters who performed outstandingly last year and presenting appointment letters to the new members, there will be an encouragement session and a training program to strengthen their capabilities in policy promotion planning and article writing.

Yoo Sia, who was selected as a member of the policy reporters corps, said, "I am very honored to have been selected for the Korea Policy Reporters Corps," and added, "I want to capture the voices from policy sites from the public's perspective and become a warm communication channel that connects policies with the people."

Gong Hyeongsik, policy chief of public communication at the ministry, said, "The Korea Policy Reporters Corps has directly experienced policies and delivered them in a friendly and easy-to-understand way that matches the public's eye level," adding, "I hope the activities of the corps will not stop at simply promoting policies but will serve as a strong bridge connecting the public and policies. The ministry will also spare no support necessary for the corps' activities."
