Pocheon City Completes a Full-Cycle Drone Industry Ecosystem
Unveiling Its Blueprint at "Drone Show Korea"
Pocheon City in Gyeonggi Province will participate in “Drone Show Korea 2026,” which opens on the 25th, and present its achievements in nurturing the defense and drone industries and its future promotion strategies under the theme “Pocheon, the Central City of K-Drone Defense Industry.”
Drone Show Korea 2026 is the largest drone industry exhibition in Korea, with participation from domestic and international drone companies, as well as defense and public institutions and research institutes. Through this exhibition, Pocheon City will actively promote its capabilities as a strategic hub city that leads a civil-military linked drone industry ecosystem.
At the exhibition site, the city will highlight major achievements such as the opening of the Gyeonggi Defense Venture Center, the hosting of the Korea Drone Warfare Competition, and the designation of a counter-drone test range. In particular, it will introduce the functions and roles of the Gyeonggi Defense Venture Center, which is scheduled to open on the 27th, and explain the industrial foundation that has established a full-cycle support system covering defense research and development (R&D), demonstration, testing and certification, and commercialization.
In addition, the city will present plans for establishing a drone education and training center and the civil-military science and technology testing and evaluation infrastructure that will be built in line with the designation of the counter-drone test range. Through this, Pocheon will underscore that it is not merely a venue for events, but a city with an industrial infrastructure capable of practical demonstration and verification.
Meanwhile, during the event, Pocheon City will sign a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Seoul National University Intelligent Unmanned Vehicle Research Center. The agreement includes cooperation in planning and operating drone industry projects, joint development of technologies and infrastructure, and joint identification and operation of educational programs to foster skilled professionals.
Building on its participation this year, Pocheon City plans to further expand its civil-military demonstration base and education-industry-academia cooperation system externally and to elevate its status as a key hub city for the defense and drone industries.
