This agreement focuses on joint cooperation in the field of quantum technology applied to the Republic of Korea's manned-unmanned teaming (MUM-T) defense systems. The two institutions plan to advance defense unmanned systems through quantum technology demonstration and technical consulting, while also contributing to revitalizing the local economy by fostering the related industrial ecosystem and creating jobs.
In particular, Pocheon City plans to foster quantum technology as a strategic industry in order to respond preemptively to the so-called "defense transformation (AX)" trend, including defense unmanned systems and physical artificial intelligence (AI). The city aims to strengthen its industry-academia-research cooperation base and systematically nurture an export-led defense parts and materials industry, so that it can grow into a key hub for related industries.
FineVT Robotics Lab is a research institution with capabilities in demonstration and consulting in the field of quantum technology applicable to manned-unmanned teaming systems. It is engaged in a wide range of advanced technology businesses, including manufacturing unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) drones, urban air mobility (UAM) and urban air traffic management (UATM), manufacturing execution systems (MES), and artificial intelligence (AI) vision inspection equipment development.
Director Oh Sejin said, "Through cooperation with Pocheon City, we are now able to fully launch demonstration and research on quantum technologies applicable to the defense sector," adding, "Based on our technological capabilities, we will contribute to the development of advanced defense industries and mutual growth with the local community."
An official from Pocheon City said, "This agreement will serve as an opportunity to add practical momentum to fostering advanced defense industries," and added, "With the opening of the Gyeonggi Defense Venture Center scheduled for the 27th, we expect this agreement to become the starting point for building a foundation for the growth of Pocheon City's defense industry."
