Kangwon Land announced that on the 24th it received a certificate of appreciation from Army Chief of Staff Kim Gyuha at the Military Police Office of Army Headquarters in Gyeryongdae.

Kangwon Land signed a "Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on Eradicating and Preventing Illegal Gambling in the Military" with the Republic of Korea Army in July last year, and since then has been promoting a variety of joint initiatives, including: preventive education for military personnel; awareness-raising campaigns; guidance on reporting; and nationwide contests and production of preventive content.

Through these efforts, the company has helped improve soldiers' awareness of illegal gambling and create a sound culture within barracks, and the initiative is being highly regarded as an exemplary cooperation model jointly pursued by a public institution and the military.

Kim Wonguk, head of Casino Policy at Kangwon Land, said, "Our illegal gambling prevention activities carried out in cooperation with the military have been officially recognized, and we have been awarded a certificate of appreciation," adding, "We will continue to expand multifaceted cooperative projects to protect military personnel from illegal gambling and to promote a healthy barracks culture."

Meanwhile, Kangwon Land was recognized last year by the National Gambling Control Commission and the Seoul Metropolitan Government Autonomous Police Committee for its contribution to preventing gambling problems among youth and military personnel, and received commendations for the second consecutive year.
