The Local Government Innovation Assessment is a system that annually conducts a comprehensive evaluation of local governments, covering the innovation leadership of the heads of local governments, improvement of services that residents can tangibly feel, elimination of blind spots in administration, improvement of work methods, and digital-based administrative innovation.

In this year's assessment, Yeoncheon County received high marks for implementing on-site-centered administrative innovation and realizing AI- and digital-based smart administration.

In particular, the following were recognized as innovation cases that residents can directly feel in their daily lives: ▲ establishing an environmental health response system by enacting, for the first time among local governments nationwide, the "Ordinance on Designation and Support of Special Response Areas for Environmental Damage" and operating an on-site office around the clock, 24 hours a day ▲ building the "Digital Yeoncheon at a Glance" platform that visualizes public data ▲ introducing an SMS (text message) application service for extending the retention period of temporary buildings ▲ establishing a smart village broadcasting system.

In addition, the county was highly evaluated for achievements in eliminating administrative blind spots, including ▲ operating the Task Force for Administration for the People ▲ increasing the application rate for subsidy programs and bringing the reduction of public direct payments down to zero by producing an agricultural calendar ▲ shortening the priority investigation period for households in crisis.

Within the organization, Yeoncheon County has also continued to promote innovation in work methods by improving unnecessary practices and introducing a generative AI assistant to strengthen administrative support functions such as report writing and data search.

Kim Gwansub, Director of Planning and Audit, said, "Being selected as an excellent institution in this innovation assessment is a valuable achievement created by the efforts of public officials and the active participation of county residents," adding, "We will continue to create changes that residents can feel in their daily lives through on-site-centered administrative innovation and the advancement of AI- and digital-based services."

Building on this achievement, Yeoncheon County plans to further strengthen its innovation capabilities across all areas of administration and to continue expanding digital-based smart administration and on-site, proactive administration.
