Hanam-si Provides Emergency Heating Subsidy of 50,000 Won to Vulnerable Households During Winter

On February 24, Hanam-si in Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Lee Hyunjae) announced that it will provide an emergency heating cost subsidy of 50,000 won to 5,078 low-income households, including basic livelihood security recipients and near-poverty households, to ease their heating cost burden during the winter cold wave.

The support targets households of basic livelihood security recipients (livelihood, medical, housing, and education benefits) and near-poverty households whose registered address is in Hanam-si as of February 5.

The subsidy will be paid once at 50,000 won per household, and the total project budget of 291.7 million won will be funded entirely by the Gyeonggi-do provincial budget.

The first round of payments was made on February 13 by depositing cash into each household's bank account. For households whose account verification is difficult, payments will be made sequentially in the second round on February 26 and the third round on March 6, following a separate notification process.

Applications can be made by visiting the community service center with jurisdiction over the applicant's address by February 27 and submitting an ID card and a copy of a bankbook, or by phone.

Lee Hyunjae, Mayor of Hanam-si, said, "I hope this heating cost support will serve as a small help that gives a warm winter to vulnerable groups, and that everyone will spend the winter safely and warmly."
