Safety Enhanced Through Refurbishment of Aging Sections... Improvements Including New Deck Road on Course 2
Maintenance on Course 1 Also Scheduled for Completion by March, Emerging as a "Stay-Type Tourist Destination"
The Homiban-do Coastal Trail, Pohang's signature seaside trekking course, is welcoming visitors this spring in an even safer and more pleasant condition.
Pohang City announced that it has refurbished aging sections of the Homiban-do Coastal Trail, where visitors can enjoy the spectacular scenery of the East Coast up close, and has significantly improved the walking environment.
The core of this maintenance project is Course 2 (Yeonorang Seonyeo Theme Park to Heunghwan Beach).
The city invested a total project cost of 1.2 billion won to build a new deck road along a 1.3 km section and completely replace old facilities.
The trail consists of Courses 1 to 4, each offering a variety of landscapes and walking experiences.
In particular, by constructing new deck roads mainly along coastal cliffs and rocky sections and replacing existing deteriorated facilities, visitors can now enjoy the coastal scenery in a much safer way.
This section connects a variety of coastal terrain and landscapes, including Seonbawi and Heundigi, which form a striking rockscape; Haseondae, known for its excellent coastal views; and Heunghwan Beach, which preserves the atmosphere of a fishing village beach. As a result, visitor satisfaction with the experience is expected to increase.
In addition, Course 1 of the Homiban-do Coastal Trail (Cheongnim Sports Ground to Yeonorang Seonyeo Theme Park) is also scheduled to complete maintenance by March this year, with a total project cost of 400 million won.
Pohang City is working to create a safe and pleasant walking environment by carrying out continuous maintenance and phased improvements along the entire Homiban-do Coastal Trail.
The city also plans to expand the foundation for stay-type tourism by revitalizing the trail in connection with coastal tourism resources.
An official from Pohang City said, "As the Homiban-do Coastal Trail is a leading coastal tourist attraction representing Pohang, we will ensure that both citizens and tourists can use it safely through continuous maintenance and improvements," adding, "We hope many people will visit and have an enjoyable time here."
