Gumi City Introduces First Full Course for the "2026 Park Chunghee Marathon"

To Be Held at Nakdong River Sports Park on March 1
Event Expanded to Four Categories with New Full Course
Shuttle Buses Operating from Major Cities Nationwide

Gumi City in North Gyeongsang Province will host the "2026 Gumi Park Chunghee Marathon" at Nakdong River Sports Park on March 1. In addition to the existing half course, 10 km, and 5 km races, a full course (42.195 km) will be introduced for the first time, expanding the event to a total of four categories. The marathon has been organized to grow into a nationwide event and to promote citizens' health.

As applications continue to come in not only from Gumi citizens and nearby marathon clubs but also from other regions, the city will provide the following temporary parking lots for participants' convenience: Geum-o High School, Geumosan Main Parking Lot, Bangrim Co., Ltd., Gumi Culture and Arts Center, Gumi City Hall, Gyeongsangbuk-do Gumi Office of Education, Dongrak Park, the back gate of LG Display A2 Building, and the parking lot of Kumoh National Institute of Technology.


In addition, for participants coming from outside the city, shuttle buses will operate from major cities such as Seoul, Incheon, Daejeon, Ulsan, and Busan. For participants using public transportation and long-distance parking lots, shuttle buses to the event venue will also run from Geumosan Main Parking Lot, Gumi City Hall, Bangrim Co., Ltd., Dongrak Park (Park Plaza), Kumoh National Institute of Technology, Gumi Intercity Bus Terminal, and Gumi Station.


Safety management will also be strengthened. On the day of the event, from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., the section from Nakdong River Sports Park to Jisan Intersection, the Gumi-Seonsan Road, Songnim Four-way Intersection, Seonsan No. 1 Plaza Roundabout, Oro Four-way Intersection, Munnyang Intersection, and 5th Industrial Complex Bridge will be under traffic control.


To minimize inconvenience to citizens, the city plans to deploy traffic control personnel and police officers at major intersections, focusing on guiding vehicle detours and managing safety on-site.


An official from Gumi City said, "With the introduction of the full course, the Gumi Marathon will have an opportunity to take a leap forward," adding, "We will do our utmost in preparations so that participants can safely complete the race and it becomes a festival enjoyed together with citizens."
