The wildfire in Miryang, Gyeongnam has been brought under control without any casualties.
In the early hours of the 24th, the Forest Fire Special Suppression Unit of the Korea Forest Service is conducting firefighting operations at the wildfire site in Miryang, South Gyeongsang Province. Korea Forest Service
On the 24th, the Central Disaster Management Headquarters of the Korea Forest Service announced that it had completed the main firefighting operations for the Miryang wildfire at 12:30 p.m. that day.
The Miryang wildfire broke out at around 4:10 p.m. the previous day in the Geomse-ri area of Samnyangjin, Miryang-si, Gyeongnam. The main fire was brought under control roughly 20 hours after the wildfire started.
The forest authorities are currently investigating the cause of the wildfire. The affected forest area is estimated at 143 hectares.
Earlier, the forest authorities worked in cooperation with related wildfire response agencies, including Gyeongsangnam-do Province, Miryang City, the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, the Ministry of National Defense, the National Fire Agency, the National Police Agency, and the Korea Meteorological Administration, deploying a total of 52 helicopters, 318 firefighting equipment units, and a cumulative total of 1,511 personnel to the wildfire site.
Park Eunsik, Acting Commissioner of the Korea Forest Service, said, "I earnestly ask every citizen to actively participate in wildfire prevention with the mindset that each and every one of us is a wildfire watcher."
