March 3 Is "Samgyeopsal Day"... HanDon Board Launches Nationwide Korean Pork Discount Promotions

Boosting Consumer Benefits with Simultaneous Online and Offline Discounts
Up to 50% Off on Items Such as "Pork Belly" and "Pork Neck"

The Korea Pork Producers Association’s HanDon Board announced on the 24th that it will launch a full-scale nationwide campaign to promote consumption of Korean pork in celebration of “Samgyeopsal Day” on March 3.

This year’s Samgyeopsal Day event focuses on expanding tangible benefits for consumers by linking offline on-site sales with online discount promotions and social media (SNS) events. The plan is to create a consumption-friendly atmosphere both online and offline by providing opportunities for consumers to see and purchase products in person at on-site events, while simultaneously running discount promotions through distribution channels and online malls.

In the offline limited-time discount event, 1+1 packs (1 kg + 1 kg) of Korean pork belly and pork neck will be sold at discounts of up to 50%. First, on the 27th, an on-site discount sale will be held in Seoul, followed by another at Seomun Market in Cheongju from March 2 to 3. During the event period, the HanDon Board will showcase Korean pork together with various brands and operate the venues so that consumers can directly check the products and make purchases.

Alongside the on-site events, discount promotions will also be rolled out across distribution channels starting from Samgyeopsal Day. On “HanDon Mall,” the official online mall for Korean pork, a special discount promotion for pork belly will be held, and Samgyeopsal and major cuts will also be sold at discounted prices at certified Korean pork restaurants nationwide, large discount stores, NongHyup Lively, and Hanaro Mart.

Online participation programs have also been prepared. On the official SNS channels of the HanDon Board, an event titled “Find Someone Who Has Never Tried Korean Pork on Samgyeopsal Day” will be held. Participation is completed by tagging in the comments a friend or acquaintance with whom you would like to eat Korean pork, and participants will be entered into a draw to receive Korean pork gift sets and other prizes.

Lee Kihong, Chairman of the HanDon Board, said, “To mark this Samgyeopsal Day, we have prepared various discount programs so that people can enjoy Samgyeopsal Day with our Korean pork,” adding, “At a time when the burden on consumers has increased due to rising dining-out prices, we hope that the on-site events and distribution promotions will help ease that burden for consumers and provide encouragement to Korean pork farmers.”
