KakaoBank announced on the 24th that, as part of its social contribution program to support young people preparing for self-reliance, titled "Everyone's Self-Reliance," it will run a donation campaign using fairy tale books created directly by young people.
"Everyone's Self-Reliance" is a self-reliance support program that KakaoBank has been operating since 2022 in partnership with the ChildFund Korea Future Foundation. KakaoBank has been providing systematic financial education and financial consulting to young people preparing for self-reliance, and has supported projects such as a fairy tale book initiative that combines creative activities with giving back to society.
The five fairy tale books published this time were produced with direct participation in story composition and illustration by 20 young people who took part in the program last year. The titles include "Fly, Cuckoo," "The One and Only Me," and "The Story of the Bumpy Jagged Stone." The books contain the experiences of young people preparing to live independently, as well as messages of encouragement for those who will begin preparing for self-reliance.
Based on these creative works, KakaoBank has launched a donation campaign on Kakao's social contribution platform "Kakao Together Value," setting a fundraising goal of 10 million won to cover education expenses and living-stability funds for young people preparing for self-reliance. The campaign will run until May 19, 2026.
KakaoBank has delivered 290 completed copies of the fairy tale books to five institutions nationwide that support young people preparing for self-reliance, including the Seohyeon Youth Center, the Gyeonggi Southern Foster Care Support Center, and the Seoul Self-Reliance Support Agency. The books can also be viewed on the "Everyone's Self-Reliance" Kakao Brunch page and as e-books on Kyobo Book Centre.
KakaoBank stated, "We planned this campaign to draw social attention to and participation in supporting young people preparing for self-reliance," adding, "We will continue to provide support in various ways so that these young people can settle into society in a stable manner both economically and emotionally."
