The Busan Regional Office of Veterans Affairs (headed by Director Lee Namil) announced on February 24 that it is conducting inspections of 17 memorial facilities in the region in commemoration of the March 1st Independence Movement Day.

This inspection is being carried out to comprehensively check the maintenance and management conditions of the memorial facilities, any damage to the structures, and the status of the surrounding environment. Any issues found to require improvement will be promptly addressed in cooperation with the relevant institutions.

On this day, Director Lee Namil personally visited the Busan Ilsin Girls' School March 1st Movement Monument (located inside Dongnae Girls' High School), which will be designated as the “Memorial Facility of the Month” for March, and the Monument to Independence Activist Choi Cheontaek (located in Jungang Park), and conducted on-site inspections.

The Busan Ilsin Girls' School March 1st Movement Monument is a facility established to commemorate the historical significance of the March 1st Independence Movement demonstration led by students in March 1919. The Monument to Independence Activist Choi Cheontaek was created to honor his patriotic spirit and dedication to the anti-Japanese independence movement during the Japanese colonial period.

Director Lee Namil said, "Memorial facilities related to the independence movement are valuable spaces for historical education that honor the spirit of sacrifice of the patriotic martyrs and independence activists," adding, "We will thoroughly manage these memorial facilities so that citizens can continually reflect on the spirit of love for the nation in their daily lives."
