KOSPI Falls Below 5,800 After Early Gains

KOSDAQ Moves Sideways

The KOSPI turned lower during intraday trading as volatility increased, while the KOSDAQ is moving sideways.


As of 9:24 a.m. on the 24th, the KOSPI is trading at 5,794.04, down 0.9% from the previous session.


By investor type, foreigners are net sellers of 388.6 billion won, while individuals and institutions are net buyers of 85.9 billion won and 317.2 billion won, respectively. In the futures market, foreigners and institutions are net sellers of 85.3 billion won and 217.7 billion won, respectively, while individuals are net buyers of 312.5 billion won.


By sector, more sectors are declining than rising. Securities are down 6.46%, while financials are down 3.28%, insurance 3.99%, telecommunications 2.15%, and transportation equipment and components 2.36%. In contrast, metals are up 1.61%, while pharmaceuticals are up 0.71%, chemicals 0.18%, and electrical and electronics 0.02%.


Most of the large-cap stocks by market capitalization are also weak. Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix are moving flat, while Hyundai Motor is down 2.8%. Samsung Life Insurance is down 4%, HD Hyundai Heavy Industries 3.6%, KB Financial Group 3.5%, Hanwha Ocean 3.9%, Shinhan Financial Group 3.4%, Doosan Enerbility 2.2%, and Hanwha Aerospace 2.1%. On the other hand, LG Energy Solution is strong with a gain of 3.7%, and Celltrion is up 1.8%.

By investor type, foreigners and institutions are net sellers of 161.3 billion won and 65.2 billion won, respectively, while individuals are net buyers of 226.5 billion won.


Most of the large-cap stocks by market capitalization are flat. Ecopro is up 1.1%, Alteogen 0.2%, Ecopro BM 0.9%, Samchundang Pharm 0.3%, and ABL Bio 1.7%, all moving sideways. In contrast, Caregen is weak, down 4.2%.


Meanwhile, in the Seoul foreign exchange market, the won-dollar exchange rate opened at 1,444.7 won, up 4.7 won from the previous session.
