The police, who have taken over and are investigating the "Kim Keonhee independent counsel" case, have summoned as a suspect Kim Sanghun, former Deputy Director of the Presidential Security Service, who is suspected of having led the yacht party that former President Yoon Sukyeol and his wife held on a Navy vessel.

The Special Investigation Headquarters for the Three Major Independent Counsel Cases at the National Police Agency has been questioning former Deputy Director Kim as a suspect on charges of abuse of authority since 10:00 a.m. on the 23rd. He is accused of, while serving as Director of Planning and Management at the Presidential Security Service, pressuring Security Service staff so that the former presidential couple could privately use a Navy vessel at the Jinhae base for their summer vacation.

The former presidential couple is suspected of having misused military assets for private purposes by holding a yacht party at the Jinhae Naval Base in Changwon, South Gyeongsang Province, during their summer vacation in 2023. Allegations were also raised that a karaoke machine was installed on the naval vessel and even fireworks were set off. The police believe that it was former Deputy Director Kim who planned this party.

Previously, in November last year, the Kim Keonhee independent counsel summoned former Deputy Director Kim as a suspect on charges of violating the Presidential Security Act. During that questioning, he acknowledged boarding the vessel but denied that there had been any "drinking party."
