Preliminary Candidate for South Gyeongsang Superintendent of Education Kim Younggon Officially Launches Supporters' Association

Former Deputy Prime Minister Kim Shinil Becomes Chairman of Supporters' Association

Preliminary candidate for Superintendent of Education of South Gyeongsang Province Kim Younggon has officially launched his supporters' association, opening the curtain on a fully fledged, resident-participatory election campaign.

Kim Shinil, former Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Education and Human Resources Development, has taken on the role of chairman of the supporters' association. Former Deputy Prime Minister Kim is a senior figure in the education community who has led key turning points in Korean education policy, and is widely recognized as a leading figure who has contemplated the direction of Korean education while bridging both academia and the policy field.

This acceptance carries meaning that goes beyond a mere title. It stems from a long-standing educational connection and deep respect, which have led to their partnership today.

Preliminary candidate Kim Younggon was a student who personally took former Deputy Prime Minister Kim's lectures on the sociology of education in his second year of university. He recalled, "Before starting every class, the professor would recite a poem," adding, "That scene did not show a professor merely transmitting knowledge, but revealed the essence of an educator who teaches with the heart."

He went on to say, "The dignity and sense of responsibility of an educator that I felt at that time have remained the foundation of my educational philosophy to this day."

He also explained that while preparing for the Higher Civil Service Examination, former Deputy Prime Minister Kim's book "Sociology of Education" served as a basic text in the field of the sociology of education and became an important foundation for building a broad understanding of education as a whole.

Preliminary candidate Kim stated, "I respectfully asked former Deputy Prime Minister Kim, my long-respected teacher and a senior figure in the education community, to serve as chairman of the supporters' association," adding, "His willingness to share this mission with me is a personal honor and, at the same time, a much greater responsibility."

He further emphasized, "On the basis of the insight and experience of the elder generation, I will push forward with practical educational reforms that can be implemented in the field," and added, "I will set the course of education in South Gyeongsang Province straight through an education of responsibility that connects generations."

Preliminary candidate Kim remarked, "The supporters' association is not an organization of any particular faction, but a space where each and every resident who wishes to see change in education in South Gyeongsang Province can participate," and pledged, "We will build trust through a transparent and accountable election campaign."

Meanwhile, the office of the supporters' association has been set up on the 6th floor of Gisan Paradise.
