Those eligible for enrollment are conscripted soldiers (Army, Navy, Air Force, and Marine Corps) and full-time reserve personnel whose resident registration is in Jung-gu. They are automatically enrolled upon entering the military, and the coverage is automatically cancelled when they are discharged or transfer their resident registration to another area. Professional soldiers, social service personnel, industrial technical personnel, and others who are covered by separate group insurance are excluded. All premiums are fully paid by Jung-gu.

The policy covers 13 items in total, providing broad support for death and disability due to injury or illness, hospitalization costs, surgery costs, fractures, burns, and more. Tooth fractures, which occur frequently during military service but are often excluded from coverage, are also included. The scope of coverage has been expanded to include diagnosis benefits for post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and consolation money for mental illness, supporting not only physical recovery but also psychological recovery.

The maximum benefit for each item is 50 million won, and the coverage period applies retroactively from February 12 this year. It covers accidents that occur not only in training camps but also during leave or outings, and duplicate coverage with personal insurance or the district’s resident safety insurance is allowed.

Insurance claims must be filed by the insured person or their legal heir with Meritz Fire & Marine Insurance (070-4693-1655) within three years from the date of the accident (or from the date of first diagnosis in the case of illness).

Jung-gu District Mayor Kim Gilseong said, "We have introduced this accident insurance so that young people serving in the military can return to society in good health and safety," adding, "We will continue to promote highly tangible policies so that Jung-gu can be a reliable source of support for young people who protect our country and prepare for the future."
