[Trump Tariffs Ruling] 64% Of Americans "Do Not Support Tariffs"...Public Opinion Was Negative Even Before Supreme Court Decision Yonhap News Agency

In a poll conducted by ABC News, the Washington Post (WP), and the polling firm Ipsos of 2,589 U.S. adults from February 12 to 17, just before the Supreme Court's tariff ruling, 64% said they "do not support" President Trump's tariff policy on imports, while only 34% said they "support" it.

Among supporters of the opposition Democratic Party, 95% opposed the tariff policy, as did 72% of independents. In addition, 98% of voters who backed the Democratic candidate in last year's presidential election and 69% of voters who did not vote in last year's election also expressed dissatisfaction with the tariff policy.

Among Republican supporters, 75% evaluated the tariff policy positively, and 87% of those who identify themselves as part of President Trump's core "MAGA" (Make America Great Again) base also supported the tariff policy.

Among those who support the Republican Party but do not consider themselves MAGA, only 43% backed Trump's tariff policy.

The 10% basic tariff that President Trump imposed on trading partners around the world, along with additional country-specific differential rates on top of it to form the reciprocal tariffs, lost its legal basis under the latest U.S. Supreme Court ruling.

However, immediately after the ruling, President Trump announced that, based on Section 122 of the Trade Act, he plans to impose a 10% global tariff on all countries worldwide, signaling his intention to push ahead with his tariff policy.
