On the 19th, Jaedaegu Gyeongbuk Sidominhoe visited the North Gyeongsang Provincial Office to pay a courtesy call on North Gyeongsang Province Governor Lee Cheolwoo and Vice Governor for Economic Affairs Yang Geumhee, and held a roundtable on local pending issues and future development strategies. The meeting was attended by Chairman Lee Donghwan, Immediate Past Chairman Choi Byungil, and the heads of 22 city, county, and district chapters, who engaged in in-depth discussions on the role of the hometown association and directions for cooperation for regional development.


This roundtable is seen as an opportunity to confirm consensus between the hometown association and the metropolitan local government at a time when discussions on administrative integration between Daegu and Gyeongbuk are spreading across the local community. Participants agreed that administrative integration can serve not only as a simple reorganization of the administrative structure, but also as an opportunity to lay the foundation for the region's long-term growth by strengthening industrial competitiveness, improving living infrastructure, and achieving balanced development.


In particular, it was emphasized that the hometown network can serve as a bridge connecting local communities and the administration, thereby contributing to gathering diverse opinions on the integration debate and expanding social consensus. Participants shared the view that close cooperation among the administration, the private sector, and the hometown community is necessary for regional development strategies to lead to outcomes that residents can truly feel, and stressed the importance of establishing continuous channels for communication.
