Questioned by Police as a Criminal Suspect
Broadcaster Park Narae, who is facing allegations including abusing power against her former managers, has appeared before the police.
According to the police on the 20th, the Seoul Gangnam Police Station summoned Park in the afternoon of the 20th for questioning as a suspect on charges including aggravated injury and violation of the Medical Service Act.
Park has previously been questioned once as a complainant, but this is her first summons as a suspect. She was initially scheduled to appear on the 12th, but after the schedule became known to the public, she is said to have requested a postponement citing safety concerns and health reasons.
There are currently a total of seven cases involving Park that are under police investigation. Her former managers have filed criminal complaints against her on charges including aggravated injury and defamation. In response, Park has filed countercharges against her former managers on charges including attempted extortion and occupational embezzlement.
The police are also looking into suspicions that Park received illegal medical procedures through a person identified as A, who was known as a so-called "injection aunt." A is reported to have been questioned by the police on February 7 on charges including violation of the Medical Service Act, violation of the Act on Special Measures for the Control of Public Health Crimes, and violation of the Narcotics Control Act.
The police recently completed questioning of A and the former managers, and are considering the possibility of additional summonses depending on the progress of the investigation.
