Yoon back to the detention center... First dinner after return was multigrain rice and seaweed soup

According to the Seoul Detention Center on the 20th, immediately after the sentencing, former President Yoon returned to the same Seoul Detention Center where he had previously been held and spent his first night there under life?sentence status. Until the sentence is finalized, however, he will remain classified as an unconvicted inmate and will continue his confinement under the same conditions as before.

His first dinner consisted of perilla-seed seaweed soup, braised short rib patties with vegetables, multigrain rice, and napa cabbage kimchi. It is reported that he was served the same meal as ordinary inmates. For the morning menu on the 20th, fish cake and kimchi soup, pickled lettuce stems, and young radish kimchi are being served. For lunch, pork blood sausage and rice soup, pickled onions, steamed sweet potatoes, and napa cabbage kimchi will be provided. Dinner is scheduled to consist of beef hangover soup, warm tofu, dipping sauce, and stir-fried kimchi in perilla oil.

Meals at the detention center are distributed all at once at fixed times, and inmates eat in their respective housing units. As a rule, inmates must wash their own dishes after use.

Six trials remaining... Likely to stay at Seoul Detention Center

The previous day, the 25th Criminal Division for Combined Cases of the Seoul Central District Court (Presiding Judge Ji Gwiyoun) found former President Yoon guilty of the charge of being the ringleader of the insurrection and sentenced him to life imprisonment at the sentencing hearing for the insurrection case.

As a rule, those with unconvicted status are held in a detention center, and once their sentence is finalized and they become convicted inmates, they are transferred to a regular prison. If the Supreme Court stage drags on after the second-instance ruling, unconvicted inmates are sometimes transferred to nearby prisons in consideration of overcrowding issues. However, in the case of former President Yoon, because many trials are still pending, there is a strong possibility that he will remain at the Seoul Detention Center even after his sentence is finalized.

Former President Yoon has appealed after being sentenced in the first instance to five years in prison on charges of obstructing an arrest. In addition to the insurrection ringleader case for which the sentence was handed down the previous day, six more trials remain, including the Pyongyang drone allegation case and a perjury case.
